Welcome to 2010 - Highs and Lows already

2010 January 20
by Big Mad Kev

So we're into the third week of 2010, the last year of the noughties, and I've already had some highs and lows.

So to start with the lows, I left Fuzzy Orange in December and have been looking for work since, but there are a few prospects out there now so just waiting on them to come through for me. Another low, well sort of I turn 30 on Friday 22nd Jan and I have grey hair already not a good sign, may need to change my tag to Big Grey Kev ;) but speaking of big time to move onto the highs.

I started a diet back in August 2009 and have had some ups and down, and I'm currently on an up. I started the diet at 25 Stone 2.5lbs (352.5lb or 160Kg) and I ended the year at 23 Stones 10.5lbs (332.5lb or 151Kg) With all the bad weather we have been having the Slimming Club has been closed so today was the first time I had a chance to get weighed in, and tonight I was 23 Stone 4.5lbs (326.5 lbs or 148Kg) So I'm 2lbs away from my end of year 2 stone target that I had. So in essence if I can lose that 2lbs by the end of January that would be 2 Stones in 6 months, and then I will get my arse into gear to get moving to 2 stones every 3 months ;) So I may just change my tag to Grey Mad Kev ;)

On another note I also got accepted to 2010 Adobe Community Professional program for ColdFusion, which is a great way to start the year and of course looks good on the CV ;) So a big thank your out to the ColdFusion Team and of course the Adobe Community Team.

Dude, I know you are VERY talented and you will find something soon. I'm 32 and I've been grey since I was 18! So be thankful! :) Congratulations on the weight loss. I have a lot of weight to lose as well and have been on the upswing in last couple of months so losing 2 stone is an AWESOME achievement. Also, big congrats on being named an Adobe Community Professional, to be honest I though you were in there a long time ago!

Grey? Hey, you have hair. Once I saw my reverse mohawk coming in (about 7 yr back) I just started shaving it all off. Congrats on ACP dude!

I'm 29 and I have gray hairs in my beard stubble :) I think it comes with the job - this computer stuff is stressful ... but in the fun way.

Massive props on the weight loss Kev - that is awesome work! I know it's not easy suddenly changing established eating patterns as the body doesn't quite know what's hit it and begins to beg you for the old food. :) But once you break through that and you see the results like this you can really build up major momentum. The goals your setting sounds spot on to me and before you know it you'll be heading for the mid-teens weight wise, looking incredible and feeling amazing! I realised in March last year that I was far too heavy and so set on a path of calorie control. Even though I always worked out I never paid attention to the calories and that has been the key for me. Over 5 months I lost 1 1/2 stone and am now back to a level I am happy with. Just aiming for another 1/2 stone now and then hit the weights to add some muscle back. There is always something to strive towards but at the end of the day that is the guiding force which pushes you along and keeps you moving. Keep us posted on your progress via Twitter and the blog.
